demekech, alias Agnes Hedlund, carries Byske just north of Skellefteå with her as both a starting point and an echo. It was there she grew up with a kind of love hate relationship to the place the sense of safety alongside a constant urge to move on. Music became her way of understanding everything she carried within herself the longing to leave, the longing for home, the quiet anxiety that follows close relationships and the warmth that always exists in the midst of it all.

She made her debut in 2021 with the EP call dad an open letter to her father and to the place she comes from. The follow up BIG GIRL MESS TAPE brought her closer to vulnerability with songs about breakups, chaos and the fear of being left alone captured with both fragility and a kind of defiant courage.

After a fall spent supporting Sarah Klang she is now continuing to write new material for an upcoming EP set for release in 2026. Up next she will release a personal alternative interpretation of Joni Mitchell’s “River” in late 2025.
