Live Session by Blique Demekech
demekech, also known as Agnes Hedlund, carries Byske—a town north of Skellefteå—with her as both a starting point and an echo. She grew up there with a sort of love-hate relationship with the place: the sense of security it offered, yet at the same time the urge to move on. Music became her way of making sense of everything she carried within her—the longing to be far away, homesickness, the quiet anxiety that comes with close relationships, and the warmth that’s always there amidst all the chaos.
She made her debut in 2021 with the EP *call dad*, an open letter to her father and to the place she comes from. The follow-up, *BIG GIRL MESS TAPE*, took her a step closer to vulnerability, with songs about breakups, chaos, and the fear of being left alone—captured with both fragility and a kind of defiant courage.
After spending the fall as the opening act for Sarah Klang, she is now continuing to write new material for an upcoming EP in 2026. Next, she will release a personal, alternative interpretation of Joni Mitchell’s “River” in late 2025.
