Sustainability at Blique

Design with the future in mind

At Blique , sustainability Blique a natural part of how we build, operate, and develop the building. From Nordic Ecolabel certification and smart recycling to more conscious choices in our restaurant and operations—we’re constantly working to reduce our environmental footprint without compromising the experience.

Well-thought-out, long-term, and seamlessly integrated into everyday life at Blique.

What does it mean to be a Nordic Ecolabel-certified hotel?

The Nordic Ecolabel is the leading environmental certification in the Nordic region and sets high standards for everything from energy and water consumption to waste management, material selection, and chemical use. For us, this means a long-term commitment where sustainability is an integral part of our daily operations—with clear requirements, continuous improvement, and more conscious choices throughout the entire Blique experience.

DISPOSABLE ITEMS & SMARTER PACKAGING

We’ve removed all unnecessary single-use items from our hotel rooms—but without compromising on the guest experience. Instead of small plastic bottles, we provide 450-ml pump bottles of shampoo and body wash in the bathrooms. This reduces both plastic waste and overconsumption.

To reduce unnecessary waste, we have also decided not to provide shower caps, cotton pads, or other single-use items in the rooms. Our guests still have access to everything they need, but in a more sustainable way.

SUSTAINABLE CHOICES AT THE RESTAURANT

In our conference and banquet hall, as well as in the Origo hotel bar, we Origo with Klimato to measure and reduce the carbon footprint of the food we serve. Dishes are ranked based on their environmental impact, making it easy for guests to choose more sustainable options.

We also have our own compost bin, which allows us to grow our own spices and herbs. By using these in our menu, we reduce the need for transportation and contribute to a more circular food supply chain.

RECYCLING & CIRCULAR INITIATIVES

We believe in giving materials a new lease on life. Our candle holders and vases are made from recycled beer bottles, created in collaboration with Återbrukshyttan. It’s part of our work to transform waste into beautiful, functional pieces.

The conference staff’s uniforms are made from old hotel sheets through a collaboration with TINI Garments, giving the textiles a new life cycle instead of being thrown away. In our study rooms, we have also installed two separate trash bins to facilitate the recycling of food waste.

THE GUEST'S OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

We want our guests to be able to help make their stay more sustainable, without it feeling like a hassle. That’s why we’ve introduced simple yet effective measures.

By hanging up their towel, guests can choose to reuse it, which saves water and energy. If the towel is left on the floor, it will be replaced with a new one. Each room also has a door sign allowing guests to opt out of daily housekeeping, which helps reduce the use of water and cleaning products.

SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS AT THE RECEPTION DESK

At our reception desk, you'll find carefully selected products from A Good Company, a company focused on sustainability. Here you can buy toothbrushes, chargers, and notebooks, all manufactured with minimal environmental impact. We want to give our guests the opportunity to make more conscious choices even after their stay with us.

Continuous improvement for a sustainable future

Sustainability isn’t a destination—it’s a journey. We’re constantly working to find new ways to reduce our environmental impact and create a more sustainable hotel experience.
