LIVE SESSION BY BLIQUE DOUGLAS DIAMOND

Welcome to the Live Session by Blique!

DOUGLAS DIAMOND

The music has been described as “David Bowie goes Nashville instead of Berlin,” a reference to 1976, when Bowie moved to Berlin to kick his drug habit and find a new sound. The 1970s are a constant source of aesthetic inspiration in Diamond’s music—a decade marked by the global oil crisis and the onset of social decadence that would set the tone for the decades to come, not least musically. The name Douglas Diamond is a nod to the plastic world of show business.

In late 2019, Diamond began working on what would become his debut album, *Rare Love*, which was released on September 4, 2020—to great success (spiritually speaking). Music blogs compared the album’s sound to that of Bowie, Todd Rundgren, and The Band. After a few years of songwriting and soul-searching, Diamond made a comeback with the groovy double single “Sound of Music/Never Too Late,” released in early 2023—a mix of raw garage rock and Beatles-esque psychedelia.

Almost two years later, on December 6, 2024, his second full-length album, *Year of the Dragon*, is released, accompanied by a packed release show at the Scala Theater in Stockholm. The album explores divine and sinful experiences throughout life and is available for purchase on Bandcamp and for streaming everywhere.

With his impressionistic lyrics, the cosmic crooner explores the complex dynamics of love in internet and urban life, the pursuit of pleasure in a modern world, and digital expressions of passion. The tech boom, decadence, and spirituality are ever-present themes in Diamond’s songwriting, where love often serves as a vehicle for social commentary. As a multi-instrumentalist, Diamond creates all his music on his own.

But when it comes time for live performances, he surrounds himself with some of Stockholm’s top musicians, including members of La La Superstar, Mama Sonic, and Bromander. Don’t miss your chance to experience this live!
