Christian Nanou has finally released his debut album, “YAKO.”

“Yako” is a common expression in Ivory Coast used to show empathy and support. For Christian, it has also become a symbol of how he wants every song on the album to feel. Together with his amazing band, it’s now time for his first tour.

Christian Nanou, 22, is an artist, songwriter, and producer who creates R&B-influenced pop music in Swedish. Last year, he debuted with the single “Håll om mig,” followed by “Kontakt,” which was featured by Per Sinding Larsen on SVT Morgonstudion, among others. Last fall, he released the critically acclaimed debut EP “Stockholm,” which earned him a Grammis Award in the R&B Soul of the Year category.

Christian Nanou was born and raised in Lund, where he was introduced to music at an early age by his father and older sister through a mix of West African music and R&B. As a teenager, he began producing and writing his own music in English and subsequently started the artist collective Fugitive Familia together with some friends, with the aim of bringing together local rappers, artists, and producers in the Malmö area.

In 2022, Christian moved to Stockholm to focus entirely on his music. There, he met the artist and songwriter Jaqe, and that’s when he decided to start writing music in Swedish.
